About Us
The National Suicide Research Foundation is an independent, multi-disciplinary research unit that investigates the causes of suicide and self-harm in Ireland. We are a registered charity (CHY11351) based in University College Cork, Ireland.
WHO Collaborating Centre
In December 2015, the National Suicide Research Foundation was designated by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a WHO Collaborating Centre for Surveillance and Research in Suicide Prevention.
National Self-Harm Registry Ireland
The National Self-Harm Registry Ireland is a system that records and reports information about self-harm presentations to hospital Emergency Departments across Ireland.
Finding Help
The NSRF is not a service-provider. If you are seeking help for yourself or someone else, there are a number of excellent resources available.

(1/2) A huge congratulations to Elaine McMahon on her @hrbireland Emerging Investigator Award Scheme grant
Elaine’s project addresses inequalities in self-harm & suicide among children, adolescents & young adults, & will examine how social determinants affect suicidal behaviours
Researchers @UCC have been awarded a combined €2m from @hrbireland for separate projects that will find novel solutions to monitor patients with inflammatory kidney disease and better understand how social determinants affect suicidal behaviours.
